Fantastic Circa Carlisle Indian School Football Team Cabinet Photograph with Coach Pop Warner & a young Charles "Chief" Bender.  Although the photo is undated, based on the players present, I believe it is the 1899 team.  This may be the earliest photo of baseball hall of famer, and legendary pitcher Chief Bender.  In addition to Warner and Bender, the other noteworthy players included are All American and College Hall of Famer Jimmy Johnson, Captain Martin Wheellock, Nikifer Shouchuk (an Eskimo player), and Frank Hudson (who some have called the greatest kicker in sport's history).  The photo is missing a portion of its paper on the left edge, but otherwise is very nice.  This great photo is housed in a custom, high quality frame measuring 21 inches by 14 inches, and the frame has museum quality UV protective glass.  A fantastic and historic photograph from a team which introduced many innovations to the game of football.

Spectacular Trio of Circa 1910 Buffalo New York area Professional Football Team Original Photographs.  The best of the group is an absolutely fantastic and massive team photograph in its original black wood frame (no longer contains glass).  The back of this frame has a label of a D.H. Coplon Buffalo area business.
These photographs came within a group of photos that included the 1914 All Lancasters Professional Football team. I am uncertain of the identity of this particular team, but it could be an All-Lancasters team, or possibly a Buffalo Oakdales team.  The photograph shows an adult team posing with a large football trophy as well as a placard reading Champions of Western New York.  The frame of this huge photograph measures 27.5 by 23.5 inches.
The additional 2 photographs are mounted on boards measuring 11 by 9 inches.  One of these additional photographs shows the team posing with the same championship trophy at a banquet.  The other shows the team posing in offensive formation.  A fantastic trio of early professional football team photographs.

Early 1920's Millville New Jersey Big Blue Professional Football Team Cabinet Photograph.   Millville was a New Jersey Professional Powerhouse team who compete with the best teams in the area.  A few years after this photo, the Millville squad included NFL legends Guy Chamberlain and Two Bits Homan. In 1926 the Millville Big Blue team traveled to Florida to play an exhibition football game versus the St Petersburg Cardinals (also known as the Tampa Cardinals); the Cardinals featured Native American legendary players Jim Thorpe and Pete Calac.  This photo came from a Millville New Jersey estate, and was identified as an early 1920's Millville Big Blue team by the Millville historical society.  The squad boasts some tough looking players, including a large Native American player in the left back row.  The photo is mounted to a grey board that measures 11 by 9 inches. Great early Pro Football team photo!

Circa 1910 Cleveland Area Football Team Panoramic Photograph.  This attractive photograph is housed in a 36.5 by 13 inch modern frame, complete with archival acid-free backing.  The photograph itself measures just under 31 inches by 7 inches.  This photograph was acquired from a Cleveland area estate, and is likely an early Ohio professional or semi-professional team, although the team's identity is at this point a mystery.  The players are donning matching striped jerseys and reeded pants, with the occasional flattop helmet and noseguard on display.  The photograph does exhibit some foxing and water staining along areas of its bottom edge.  These flaws do not detract much from the look of this great photograph, and this is one of the earliest panoramic football photographs I have handled.

Very Large 1933 University of Pennsylvania Football Captains Banquet Photograph with Invitation and Attendee Listing all matted in its Original Frame.
The great photograph shows Penn Football Captains ranging from years 1885 to 1933, and included in the photo are Penn legends Bert Bell (the Philadelphia Eagles founding owner - listed as de Benneville Bell) and T. Truxton Hare.  The same initiation card, with its Penn crest, and gold foiled U of P football, can be seen sitting on the banquet table in front of one Captain.
Each former player has a leather football sitting in front of him, and the banquet table itself resembles a large football field complete with goal posts. At its center appears to be a centerpiece of leather football helmets, footballs, and diecut photos of a player.  The frame measures 32 inches wide by 13.25 inches tall.  A spectacular early University of Pennsylvania Football piece housed in its original frame.   I wish I knew which Penn Captain owned this beauty.

1892 Buchtel College Football Players Cabinet Photograph, with the players sporting post game bruises and bandaging, and posing with a broadside game advertisement.  The card has period ink, identifying the players as Steigmeyer and Kingsbury, and on the back reading "after Dennison game 1892, Score Buchtel 4 Dennison 0".  Consulting the book, 50 years of Buchtel, the 1892 football roster lists Steigmayer as Left Tackle, and Kingsbury as Halfback.  The year after this photograph, the Buchtel College football team would be coached by the legendary John Heisman.  Both players have multiple bandages and bruises on their face, showing the violence of the 19th century game, from a time period when helmets were not worn.  The photograph is mounted to a board measuring 4 1/8 by 5 1/8 inches, and the board has a slight warp to it.  A fantastic early Buchtel College football image.

Large Panoramic Photograph of the 1924 Pottsville Maroons and their huge fan base in the stands of an Atlantic City Football Stadium.  The owner of the Maroons used this game and the Maroon's huge traveling fan base to launch Pottsville's entrance into the NFL the following season.  This enormous photo measures 45 inches long and just shy of 12 inches tall, and is housed in a period zebrawood frame.  The team is shown in the foreground of the photo, while the enormous group of fans sport a variety of Pottsville pennants/pins/ and even a sash.  This photograph came with football equipment from the estate of a player who played for Pottsville.  The two other examples of this photograph that I have come seen have had photographer printing with a caption describing the scene, while this one lacks this printing. My theory is that this is an early printing of the photograph (made to be given to the players), and the owner had some other versions made with the printing for sale and or to help with his application for NFL membership.  Fantastic looking piece of early pro-football history

1900 Beautiful Melon Football Shaped Diecut Football Team Photograph.  The exact identity of this team is a mystery, but I believe it has a connection to the Latrobe area.  The bearded gentleman in formal attire very well may be the early professional football manager and promoter Dave Berry.  A player in the center of the photo is holding a football with the lettering L.S.-P on it as well as the year '00.  Research has not been able to ascertain the what these initials stand for.  The Latrobe Steel Company did take over the Latrobe YMCA (whom organization who fielded Latrobe's early pro football teams) at the turn of the century, so perhaps the LS stands for Latrobe Steel, but how does the P fit in?  Dave Berry was known for his formation of all star teams, so this could also be a blend of teams.  With all this theorizing aside, this a very attractive diecut football team photograph.

1892 and 1893 Dual Framed University of Pennsylvania Football Team Cabinet Photographs.  This beautiful original 19th century frame, features faded painted Penn crossed flags at its top, and very faded U and P at on its lower portion.  The photograph on the left side of the frame, is an albumen image of the 1892 University of Pennsylvania Varsity Football team, with Charles Schoff as captain.  The photograph on the right side is the 1893 University of Pennsylvania Medical school football team.  This beautiful photographic display originates from the estate of Dr Charles Schoff, who played football at Penn from 1890 to 1893,  graduating from their Medical school in 1893, and then practicing medicine in Media, Pennsylvania.  Schoff played alongside John Heisman at Penn during the 1890 and 1891 seasons, before becoming the 1892 captain.  The images both have beautiful clarity, and as you can see in the above photo, the large bulbous melon football in the right photo has '93 MED. painted on it.  One of the players on the Medical school team photo, has DS on the Penn P on his sweater, undoubtedly indicating he was a member of Penn's Dental School.  The frame measures 38 inches wide by 17 inches wide, and is in beautiful condition with its original wood slat backing.  A fabulous pair of University of Pennsylvania photographs housed in their original frame where they have likely resided for over 120 years.

Late 1880's Cabinet Photograph of member of first ever Walter Camp's All American team in 1889:  Harvard's James Lee.  The photo shows Lee posing with a bulbous melon football, and sporting his moleskin vest with the Harvard H on the right chest area.  Pictured below the photo, is a scanned page from the book "The H Book of Harvard Athletics", which shows the 1888 Harvard football team, with Lee in the upper right corner.  Also, you can see several players in the image with the small H on the right chest of their vests.  Unfortunately the board onto which the photo is mounted was trimmed at some point.  The photo was likely taken by the famous Pach Bros, but the trimming makes this impossible to know.  The photo measures 4 by 6 inches, and has very nice clarity.  Lee was joined by many legendary names of early football history on Camp's 1889 All American team including Amos Alonzo Stagg, Edgar Allen Poe, and Pudge Heffelfinger.  A great rare early Harvard Football photograph.
