Antique Baseball Programs

1903 Altoona versus Pennsylvania Railroad Y.M.C.A. Baseball Program.  The scorecard features several images of Altoona players throughout.  The scorecard pages aren't filled out, but the visiting roster is adhered to the scorecard page.  Although not marked as such, a quick newspaper archives search shows that the visiting team was the Pennsylvania Railroad YMCA team of Philadelphia.  The first page of the program shows the schedule of Altoona, and they played prominent barnstorming teams including the Cuban X Giants Negro Baseball team and the All Cubans of Havanna.  The program's back cover is present but loose; otherwise the program is in very nice condition.

Circa 1900 New York Bloomer Girls Team Photograph Scorecard.  The scorecard measures 4 by 5.5 inches and features a team photo on the front, and an unscored scorecard page on its reverse.  The team refers to itself as the Champion Female Baseball Players of the World.

1947 Philadelphia Athletics versus Chicago White Sox Autographed Program.  The front and back covers feature 18 autographs of Athletics and White Sox players.  The Athletics autographs include Don richmond, Russ Christopher, Elmer Valo, Coach Dave Keefe, Sam Chapman, Ferris Fain, Phil Marchildon, Pete Suder, Bill Dietrich, Coach Bing Miller, and former Athletic Jim Sullivan.  The White Sox autographs include Ed Lopat, Floyd Baker, Jack Wallaesa, Thornton Lee, Don Kolloway, and Eddie Smith.  There is one minor league autograph present of Joe Lebida.  The scorecard does have 3 hole punches present.

June 10th 1933 New York Yankees versus Philadelphia Athletics Scorecard, scored with 2 home runs by Babe Ruth.  This fold open style scorecard features Ruth, Gehrig, and Lazzeri on the Yankees lineup, and Jimmie Foxx and Lefty Grove on the Athletics side.  Lefty Grove was the pitcher of the game, in which Babe Ruth homered in his first 2 at bats.  The Athletics would win the game 9 to 5.  The scorecard has some significant chipping to the paper, and is somewhat fragile.

The below items have been sold.

1939 Philadelphia Athletics versus Boston Red Sox Autographed Program.  This game apparently featured an Old Timer's game, with the 1910 Athletics playing against the 1929 Athletics.  There is a partially scored scorecard page for this old timer's game in the program.  The program features 4 autographs of Athletics alumni including Eddie Collins, Ira Thomas, Paddy Livingston, and Joe Bush.  Livingston signed the back cover, while the other 3 signed the scorecard page.  The program is in very nice condition, and is a neat pieces of Athletics memorabilia.

1917 New York Yankees versus Washington Senators at Brush Stadium Program Scorecard.   The scorecard has Wally Pipp listed for the Yankees, and Walter Johnson listed amongst the Senators.  Brush Stadium (the Polo Grounds) was the Yankees home from 1913 to 1923.  The cover to the scorecard is no longer attached, but has survived with the program.  A rare early Yankees program.

1935 World Series Wrigley Field Program/Scorecard.  This Championship series pitted the Chicago Cubs versus the Detroit Tigers.  The interior features player photographs, etc, and the scorepage is unscored.  The program does feature foldmarks and some creasing.

1881 Yale Versus Brown Baseball Scorecard that has Football Legend Walter Camp batting 5th and Playing Shortstop.  The Yale team also includes Pitcher "Wild Bill" Hutchinson who was a longtime professional player, playing with the Kansas City Cowboys, the Chicago White Stockings, and the St Louis Browns.  The scorecard is for a May 30th, 1881 game at Hamilton Park, and it is a fold open style with the score pages in the interior.   The back cover of the scorecard has some paper adherence, likely from scrapbook removal.   A great early piece of Yale baseball ephemera.

Beautiful 1914 Cincinnati Reds versus Brooklyn Robins at Redland Field Program Scorecard.  This scorecard features Casey Stengel and Zack Wheat amongst the Brooklyn lineup.  The program is in beautiful condition with no rips or tears, and its original cover is still attached.  A great early Red program.

1881 Yale Versus Harvard Baseball Scorecard that has been customized by its owner to score a game between the Yale Freshman team (including a young Amos Alonzo Stagg) and the Yale Business College.  The scorecard is for a May 28th, 1881 game at Hamilton Park, and it is a fold open style with the score pages in the interior.  They owner pasted rectangular pieces of paper atop the scoring area that has the rosters of the freshman and business college teams written in pencil.  The Harvard and Yale rosters would be printed below these pieces of paper, and Walter Camp is most likely on the Yale varsity squad roster.  A great early piece of Yale baseball ephemera.
